PNYNE YOUTH TRIP

Service trip to the Boardwalk Chapel, Wildwood, NJ

WHAT? Our team’s mission: to serve the ministry of the chapel by deep cleaning and prepping for the arrival of the summer staff.  We will enjoy fellowship and have a time of Bible study and prayer for one another as part of our time together.

WHEN? May 19-22, 2021.  Each church group will leave Thursday [either midday or after school, depending on needs] in order to arrive in Wildwood by late evening.  On Sunday we will worship at the local OPC church and leave after lunch to return home.

 WHO can apply?

           Young people age 13-up — can come unaccompanied.

            Drivers over age 21 and adult chaperones needed.

            Entire families welcome to participate; younger children can attend with parent.

WHERE? The Boardwalk Chapel is a summer evangelism training and outreach ministry of the OPC in Wildwood, NJ.  The Chapel has been an active ministry since the early 1940’s.  For more info about this ministry, go to Boardwalkchapel.org

This trip is limited to members and regular participants of the OPC churches of the Presbytery of New York and New England.

Dates: Each group will leave from their location in order to arrive in the evening Thursday 5/19, and group will disperse Sunday 5/23 after lunch.  [Friday travel possible too — we’re flexible!]

Volunteer Drivers will be reimbursed for your gas expenses. Thank you, drivers! 

What will we do?

We will serve the chapel by deep cleaning and prepping the building before the summer staff arrive for the summer season.  All activities will be overseen by the Chapel coordinator.

We will have some time for walking on the beach and boardwalk, and swimming if weather accomodates.

We will have a Bible study & prayer time and attend church Sunday morning.

    What should I bring? 

Clothes for working and painting in — be ready to get dirty.

    All clothing should be modest, wording on shirts etc. should reflect well on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Clean casual clothes for Sunday church.

Tennis shoes for protecting your feet when working.

Flip flops and modest bathing suit [ask your mom if you’re not sure!]

Hand sanitizer and face masks, sun screen

Warm jacket/sweater for chilly evenings.

Your own bedding [warm! there is no heat in the chapel building!]

Pillow, towels, toiletries.

Bible, your wallet, ID and some personal spending money.

    How much will it cost? 

Per individual: $40 each for food and gas [your church may be able to help with cost — family groups — take $10 off each individual if more than one family member is coming!]

The team will stay in the Chapel lodging and cook our own food for all meals Friday & Sat and Sunday breakfast and lunch.

Come prepared to buy fast food lunch during travel for Thursday and Sunday dinners.
